Wednesday.

Last Day with SENIORS!

SENIORS.. READ THIS!!!!

Baz Luhrmann's FAMOUS WORDS

I have passed it on to all the Seniors I have had since I began teaching at LHS.  You are what will continue to influence the environment around us... Surround yourself with Awesome people and make Awesome things Happen!

Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of 2012!
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be
it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by
scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable
than my own meandering
experience…I will dispense this advice now.
Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not
understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and
recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before
you and how fabulous you really looked….
You’re not as fat as you
imagine.
Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as
effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing
bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that
never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm
on some idle Tuesday.
Do one thing everyday that scares you
Sing
Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with
people who are reckless with yours.
Floss
Don’t waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes
you’re behind…the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with
yourself.
Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you
succeed in doing this, tell me how.
Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.
Stretch
Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your
life…the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they
wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year
olds I know still don’t.
Get plenty of calcium.
Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.
Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe
you won’t, maybe you’ll divorce at 40, maybe you’ll dance the funky
chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary…what ever you do, don’t
congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either – your
choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s. Enjoy your body,
use it every way you can…don’t be afraid of it, or what other people
think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever
own..
Dance
even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.
Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.
Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.
Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for
good.
Be nice to your siblings; they are the best link to your past and the
people most likely to stick with you in the future.
Understand that friends come and go,but for the precious few you
should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and
lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you
knew when you were young.
Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard; live
in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.
Travel.
Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will
philander, you too will get old, and when you do you’ll fantasize
that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were
noble and children respected their elders.
Respect your elders.
Don’t expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund,
maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one
might run out.
Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you're 40,
it will look 85.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who
supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of
fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the
ugly parts and recycling it for more than
it’s worth.
But trust me on the sunscreen…

READ THIS!

This weekend is Memorial Day weekend.
Take time to shake the hand of a Veteran, they are what makes everything we do possible.
As odd as it may be for us to think that saying Thank You to a stranger may feel.... that is how we can show our respect to those that have worked to protect our Country... It may seem as if a simple Thank You may not do justice but little things make the world go round and words make a powerful statement.

There are Memorial Services around the Rapids Area... get to one on Monday.
Be there to show your support!  We all know someone who has served, and even thought we have made a decision to not... those that do serve allow us to have that option!
So get out there Monday and pay your respect to the true heros in our lives.

4th hour! (sub)
We are at take-down for the LHS art show.  Work will be distributed next week.
TODAY you need to be working on your dispersion effect, finishing your animation/photomerge.
You will not be going out and getting photos and can only use the backdrop in the room for the hour with the sub.  Please be respectful and helpful... cameras will be open to use and so will the headphones, she has keys to open these for you.
Work hard to create an image that has been not only improved but applied with an effect!
The tutorial is there for you to resource.

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Wednesday!

Digital: Painting final entire work hour (you will have until Friday still with some work time but we are going to get introduced to Photoshop Animation (basic/simple) tomorrow.... unless you are 7th hour and it is still nice out, we may have a few games.

By Taylor H and Kelly C

Video: If nice: Outside.  If questionable (like yesterday): We work.
Choose for final video:  StopMotion.  Storytelling.  MusicVideo.  LipDub.
LipDub will and can be completed as a group but you must get this organized and outlined with those in your group.... this means being proactive with others that are also interested.
The starter for a LipDub will be as complex or basic as you want to make it.... you also need to consider it's setting.
Scripts DUE Friday:  You MUST begin filming to get this in and done on time.

Yes, you have to do a script.
Outline: Setting.  Whos in it?  Audio.  Apparel.  What is the overall theme?
Even if you don't follow scripts entirely they still need to be addressed.

Maybe you want to combine StoryTelling and Music.... Filling in parts of your story with a variety of phrases from different songs...  just thinking out loud.

Team Building & the Awesome-ness

WE ARE OUTSIDE.

VIDEO:  If you haven't commented about a dvd, which was asked of you yesterday, you will not be getting one.  Just an FYI.

It is something that isn't always considered....
I am going to be honest with you... semester classes are hard (quarter/ 9wk classes are worse) to get the bond that you feel you have actually connected with your class and everyone feels that they have been incorporated in an atmosphere where they found comfort.

I strive for this comfort within our classroom.  I want you to look toward each other for not only help but also for the confidence in knowing that those around you are no different in this room as the one sitting next to them...   we better ourselves by who we choose to be around.
I don't have the choices of who ends up in the classes I teach but know that you all are very special individuals that have made great classes to be a part of....

WITH THAT being said:

Welcome to the AWEsomeNess!

Blind-folded Partner Obstacle Course

Human Knot

Thumbs Up/Fat Big Toe

... and possible others depending on time.

Monday!

Lets review an outline for this final kick of the school year:

May 7-11 .14-18 . 21-25
Memorial Day Wkend!
May 29-1 (4 days)
June 4-6 (Last Week)

Digital:  Work on Painting Project. The end of this week will be spent introducing some effects that we are going to be looking into.... We have plenty of pictures to work with if you have gotten all of your contact sheets in so aside from some experimenting... We will be working with some distortion and creation.
And some layout application.

Video:  We have 3 weeks.  The last 6 days will be working on loose ends, watching videos that we haven't gotten to yet, and cleaning up our D-drives.
We need to decide as a collective (or large enough group to pull it off) about a lipdub.
If we do lipdub, that will be it but it will be intense.. we can't slack on this!
If not... there is one more combo of options to choose from for a final video:  Video #4 Options
Three weeks will be enough to get this one in and finish all the loose ends that need to cleaned up.

YOU choose.

I NEED YOU TO... start a list for myself on who wants DVDs burned for them and who would rather bring in a jump drive and get their video on that.
This will be done in the comments section below: Name. Yes or No for DVD.

THIS is what we did this wkend!!  SO MUCH FUN!

Friday, May 4, 2012

Video:  Editing.

Lots to do.
Lots to get done.

Wednesday, May 2, 2012

Wednesday.

Digital Painting....  Yesterday was a bit of craziness between art show and track so we will be having a bit of review and reminder day.

Video... I am really excited to see your project profanity work!  They should definitely have a variety to them!  Make them worth it and put the time into the projects you would be proud to show others.  We need to have a pow wow to talk about what you would like to do for the last month of school....  I already know where a few of you would like to concentrate on but for the rest of us: Final Creative option of Stop Motion / Music Video / Storytelling    OR  LipDub

Friday is suppose to be nice out and we need some fresh air that will also get us to know each other a bit more... obstacle race + other games depending on time.

Yes, today is my birthday... pretty sure this girl and I have a lot in common!!!

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Tuesday

For 4th hour digital:
Work with the Stylus... I have another way to work on painting that I will be showing you tomorrow also!
Think of today as a practice and to get in whatever you are missing... Tomorrow we will work on a tone layer and using the cut-out filter to assist in our painting!

ARTSHOW SETUP TODAY!

Video:  Lab/Edit

Digital 7th:  Work on your painting project, styluses are on the back file cabinet, use them.

Remember to divide your background, middle-ground, and foreground in your photograph as you paint.  The idea of layers helps work with separation as we start to add texture, different brushes, and possible filters.
